Talk to us →Slovak accounting for non-residents — FAQ
Do you work with non-resident owners of Slovak companies?
Yes. We handle accounting for Slovak s.r.o. companies owned by non-residents, communicate entirely in English, and file all returns electronically with the Slovak Financial Administration (Finančná správa), the Social Insurance Agency (Sociálna poisťovňa) and the health insurers.
What is the Slovak corporate tax rate?
Slovak corporate income tax (daň z príjmov právnických osôb) is 10% on taxable income up to 100 000 €, 21% as the standard rate, and 24% above 5 000 000 €. Dividends distributed to a resident natural person attract 7% tax. These rates apply to the 2026 tax year. Source: Finančná správa.
When does a Slovak s.r.o. need to register for VAT?
VAT registration is mandatory once your Slovak company's turnover exceeds 50 000 € in a calendar year — you become a VAT payer from the following year. If turnover exceeds 62 500 €, you become a payer immediately. Standard VAT (DPH) rate: 23%; reduced: 19% and 5%.
What is the slovensko.sk e-mailbox and do I need it?
The slovensko.sk (ÚPVS) electronic mailbox is mandatory for every Slovak company entered in the Commercial Register. All official communications with Slovak authorities — the tax office, courts, Sociálna poisťovňa — are delivered electronically through this system. We handle monitoring and processing on your behalf.
Is everything handled remotely and in euros?
Yes. You send documents digitally, we communicate by email in English, and file all returns and reports electronically. Slovakia is in the eurozone, so all accounting, invoicing and tax is in euros — no currency conversion. No physical presence in Slovakia is required.
What deadlines does my Slovak s.r.o. face?
Key recurring obligations include: monthly or quarterly VAT returns and control statement (kontrolný výkaz) if VAT-registered, the annual corporate income tax return (filed by the end of March, or with an extension), annual financial statements filed in the Register of Financial Statements, and payroll contributions if you employ staff. We track all deadlines for you.
Can you take over accounting from my current provider?
Yes. We handle the handover process, request documentation from your previous accountant, and ensure continuity. There is no gap in compliance coverage during the transition.
